Turn Your Blog into a Cash Generating Machine

December 19th, 2010

For a few years now, blogging has been recognized as a way to create a respectable online income. You don’t need the skills or software that you need to create a typical web site, so in that sense, you have a ready-made platform. You can add fresh content to your pages and then “ping” them to let the search engines know that you’ve updated your site. If your content is valuable enough—and it should be—your rank on the search engines will rise. Read this article to find out more about Adsense, Adwords, and affiliate sites that can help create a cash-generating mean machine.

Adsense
Adsense is one of the easiest ways to generate some cash for your online business. Sign up with Google for their Adsense account, and follow the guidelines in order to get some coding, which they supply, that you can edit into your blog post. Adsense will immediately recognize the nature of the content you write in your post, and apply appropriate advertising accordingly; depending upon the advert box size you opted for in the coding procedure. The more content and pages you have, the more Adsense will recognize you. You may have to be patient for a while before Adsense picks up on you though.

Adwords
Google’s Adwords, or Pay-Per-Click (PPC) program is hugely popular, and its advantage is that you only pay if someone clicks on the advertisement. Keywords and diligent research into the demographics and needs of your market are vital issues here. Your aim is to bid – often only tenths of cents – for the best keywords to fit your pre-researched niche. If you undertake forensic research into an Adwords program to fit your blog, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to create a flow of traffic more quickly than several other programs. It’s a good idea to sign into a competitor’s program, or buy from them, to get an insider’s analysis of their marketing strategy.

Affiliate products
If you don’t want the hassle of creating your own products, your best alternative is to look at affiliate programs, so that all you have to do is promote. In most niches that are proven money-earners, there’s plenty of product choices, and you should ideally sign up for one that has plenty of promotional material available to the affiliate, such as e-mails messages, a sales page, and graphics, etc. With your blogging platform, you can actively engage in promoting several affiliate products. In terms of content, where you have an affiliate product to promote, you can write a review for it, in addition to your other content pages.

Flipping – Sell your blog for cash

June 23rd, 2010

Website flipping has become increasingly popular in recent years – especially so blog flipping. Quite simply you make a new blog, monetize it, get a little traffic going to the blog and then list it for sale. People love buying blogs because essentially what they are getting is a ready made business.

I am a huge fan of blog flipping for cash and it’s a great way to make money online. Here’s how to go about blog flipping for cash:

1.Choose a niche
You can start a blog on any topic you like, however if you’re looking to flip a blog it’s a good idea to choose a niche that has good money making potential for your buyer. My advice would be to choose an ‘evergreen’ topic such as internet marketing, weight loss, self improvement, diets, etc.

2.Create your blog
The next step is to create your blog. There are a couple of important things here. Firstly it’s important to make your blog look good. It needs to look professional and eye catching as this is something people will really look for. Choose a good theme or have a unique one made. Don’t choose a theme which looks like millions of other blogs out there. If you want to get the best price for your blog it needs to look professional and unique. The next important thing is to monetize it. Add Google Adsense, Clickbank Ad Rotator and such like to your blog.

3.Post some content
Once you have got your blog set up you need to post some content to it. You have a number of options here. One of my favourite things is to create an auto blog using one of the many services out there such as AutoBlogged.
Essentially what such services do is post fresh content to your blog on autopilot by getting information from feeds. This means less work for you and if you’re flipping your blog it is also a great selling point since it means less work for your buyer too! The other options are to write some yourself, outsource, or use PLR articles. The latter is a great option however it is important that you rewrite the content and make it unique to your site.

4.Promote your blog
The next step is to get a little traffic to your site. You can use traditional traffic generation methods such as blog commenting, viral reports, forum marketing, article marketing, adswaps, etc. It helps if you have installed a way of tracking visitor stats (such as through Google Analytics) so that you can provide the statistics to people when you come to sell your blog. Hopefully you will also make some money from the traffic you receive as this too makes a great selling point.

5.Flip your blog!
By now you should have a professional looking blog with good content, and hopefully it has gotten some visitors and maybe made a little bit of money. Now it’s time to advertise it for sale. There are a number of sites designed for this such as Flippa or Sitepoint.

When you advertise your blog make sure you draw people to the key selling points. Show them the website and make it clear it’s a unique site with a professional theme and good content. You can also provide people with the visitor stats and sales figures. This is a great way to boost the appeal of your blog and get the best possible sale price.

Why WordPress is the best CMS for blogs and marketing

June 13th, 2010

WordPress is a very popular blog platform. Why is it so popular? Because it is more than a blog platform and can be used as a complete content management system.

If you’re interested in blogging or know anything about blogs then you’ve probably come across WordPress. It is one of the most popular blogging platforms, and millions of people use it across the world to create and manage their blogs.
Great – but how good IS WordPress and why is it so popular?
1.First of all it’s free. This has ensured its popularity with many people, especially so because it is so powerful and is very easily customized, unlike some expensive paid blogging platforms.

2.Wordpress is extremely easy to install. Pretty much anyone (even ‘non-techies’) can install WordPress with the minimum of fuss, even if you’ve never done it before. There are also many tutorials available which guide you through the process, and because it is so popular there is plenty of help available online should you get stuck with anything.

3.There are thousands of themes available, so it’s very easy to make your WordPress blog look exactly the way you want it to. Choose from the thousands of free and paid themes which are available to download, or get your own custom theme created. Once you have your theme it’s an absolute doddle to install and change it.

4.You can take advantage of the thousands of widgets and plugins which are out there. You can make your blog do pretty much whatever you want it to, and again many of them are completely free.

5.YOU own your blog. Unlike a service such as Blogger where your blog is simply hosted on someone else’s server, with WordPress you own your blog. Nobody can come along and shut it down or close your account.

6.Search engines love WordPress, and it is very easy to get your blog into the listings. There are many widgets and simple ‘tweaks’ which you can do to ensure your blog gets indexed by the search engines in a very short space of time.

WordPress is probably THE most popular blogging platform and rightly so. I love it and I wouldn’t even consider using anything else. It really is that good.
