How to Stay Motivated About Your Online Business

August 22nd, 2010

Motivation is a huge part of the Internet Marketing business but it is easier said than done to keep it buring for long periods of time. Here is a common scenario:

You discover the possibilities that exist for making money online, you buy a number of products and then you put some of your ideas into action. You have that wonderful feeling of complete excitement and knowing that you have stumbled upon something very special indeed. Then, inevitably things don’t work out quite as well as you’d hoped and you discover that running an online business day to day requires a great deal of hard work.

Everyone reaches a point where they feel like trying to make money online is a waste of time but if you want to succeed then you need to make a real commitment to it and ensure you stay motivated over the long term.
“How can I ensure I stay motivated about my online business?”

1.Look at your past successes
If you’re feeling a little down about things then take a look and think about your past successes. Not only is it good to reflect on them in terms of feeling positive and getting yourself re-motivated but it’s also a great way to see what has really made you money in the past. What was it that worked that you can replicate again?

2.Take a break and get your enthusiasm back
Everyone needs a little time out. It’s easy to think that you can devote every waking hour to making yourself a success but the reality is that you have to be realistic. Yes you need to work hard but overworking yourself isn’t going to do you or your business any good whatsoever. Take a break and you’ll be amazed at the ideas that come to you when you’re not bogged down with stuff and the energized feeling you will get afterwards.

3.Talk to other marketers
Sharing your ideas and experiences with others is a great way to ensure you stay motivated. The successes of others can really give you belief and confidence.

4.Remember your dream
What is it that you’re aiming for? What’s your ideal lifestyle that you perhaps want your online business to help you create? I know it sounds incredibly cheesy but by simply thinking about your dream and picturing yourself in that situation it can really help you to stay motivated.

How to Get More Subscribers to Open Your Emails

June 28th, 2010

Having a large mailing list is all well and good, but if your subscribers never actually see what you are sending them then it means nothing. You need your list to be responsive. You need them to open your emails and hang on to your every word.
When I think about all the emails that land in my inbox every day, there are certain people I especially look out for. If it’s from a particular marketer then I will ALWAYS read what they have sent to me, purely because of who it’s from.

Here’s how to build that relationship with your list and get more subscribers to open your emails.

1. Give people a reason to open your emails
If all you do is sell then people latch onto this pretty damn quickly! Even if they don’t unsubscribe in the first place they are highly unlikely to open your emails because they know that each time you’re trying to sell them something. Give people a reason to open what you send. Of course you need to sell from time to time, but also provide good content that people can actually use. Make people look forward to receiving your emails. You want people to see your name and think ‘hey I must open that because it’s from such and such a body and I know I’ll benefit from reading it…’

2. Think about your subject line
Your email subject line is crucial in your quest to get more subscribers to open your emails. It really helps if you can either make people curious about the content or if you can convey the point of your email within the subject line. Both tactics can be effective – it depends on your target market, the style, and the type of email you are sending. I like to make sure that the subject line is relevant and related to the actual content.

3. Consider the time
Sending emails on certain days and times will yield much better results than others. Again, it all depends on your target audience and where they live. When will your subscribers be at their computers? Try different times and test to see which times work best for you. A lot of people take the opinion that Tuesday is a good day, however I have always found it pretty poor and the competition is massive! Find out what works for you and don’t forget time differences. If you live in the UK but most of your subscribers are in Australia, for example, then don’t hit them when they will all be in bed!

Be more productive and make money faster

June 27th, 2010

Productivity may sound boring but producing and mantaining good work ethics in a organized way it is the nr.1 requirement for success in any online business. If you are not productive, if you work too slow, then you will fail to make serious money online.

Running an internet business can be hard, despite what you might have read online. It’s very easy to spend your days browsing forums, reading blogs and watching training videos rather than actually doing things which are moving your business forward and making you money. What do I mean by such activities? Sending promos to your list, launching new products, striking joint venture deals and such like.

The key is to get things done quicker. Here are some top tips on how to become productive and get the things done in your business that will really benefit you.

1.Make a list and prioritise your tasks
It might sound like something out of a very cheesy time management book but it’s actually pretty good advice – make a list in the morning of all the things you need to get done and then number them in order of importance.

2.Don’t overload yourself with work
One of the biggest reasons why you might not be very productive is that you have too much work to do. This can make you feel as though you’ve got a mountain to climb and it’s pretty unmotivational, so make sure that you allocate yourself a workload each day that is manageable and realistic.

Doing so will keep you motivated and help you to stay focused. How much better would it feel to get to the end of the day and know that you’ve gotten everything done that you wanted to in the morning?

3.Do the things you hate doing first
By getting the tasks you dread done first you are freeing up the rest of your day to concentrate on the more enjoyable tasks or those which you are better at. One of the main things that holds people back is the nagging thought in the back of their mind that such and such a thing still needs to be done.

4.Find your ideal working environment
Everyone is different. Some people thrive in a busy environment, whilst others are more productive with lots of quiet time. Maybe listening to music or having the TV on in the background helps you become more productive. Whatever it is, find out and it can really make a big difference to your productivity.
